The Council’s efforts to recognize local women leaders that represent the core values of honesty, fairness, caring, responsibility, service to others and community, inclusivity, respect and sisterhood shone a spotlight on seven Women of Distinction from Northeast Florida. The honorees celebrated included:
•Martha Baker, Community Volunteer & Advocate
•Tamara Baker, Baker Klein Engineering PL
•Giselle Carson, MarksGray, P.A.
•Camille Harrison, Florida Blue
•Mary Kelli Palka, The Florida Times-Union
•Nicole Thomas, Baptist Health
•Penny Thompson, Consultant
The fundraising event emphasized the Girl Scouts’ G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader)™ initiative of practicing a lifetime of leadership through skills, experiences and connections. Each Women of Distinction nominee exemplifies the vision of the Girl Scouts of Gateway Council – to develop a pipeline of local women leaders.
The money raised from the fundraiser goes toward the Girl Scouts of Gateway Council’s Girl Scout Leadership Experience program where nearly 10,000 girls in the Northeast and North Central Florida community are able to practice and develop confidence, leadership and responsibility regardless of age, race or status.
