When? October 25th, 2014 from 2-4pm
Where? Native Sun Baymeadows
October is Non-GMO Month. The term GMO, or “genetically modified organisms,” refers to plants or animals created through genetic engineering. The modification process merges DNA from different species into combinations not found in nature or in traditional crossbreeding. To celebrate their commitment to products that are free of genetic modification, Native Sun Natural Foods Market is hosting special events throughout October to raise public awareness.
As part of the celebration, Native Sun’s Baymeadows Rd. location is hosting a Healthier Halloween event. Guests will enjoy seasonal samples from the produce department, juice bar, and gluten-free bakery while making stops to trick-or-treat throughout the store. Native Sun will have special sales, live recipe demos, spooky crafts, and a costume contest for kids*.
*Whiles supplies last. Costume contest reserved for children 10 and under with prizes going to 3 of the participants

ABOUT NATIVE SUN
Native Sun is Jacksonville’s trusted organic grocer, locally owned and operated since 1996. Native Sun supports non-GMO because of the lack of thorough GMO testing on humans, a belief in the right of the consumer to choose whether or not they wish to consume GMO foods, and their support of local and family farms that are often destroyed by the big business of GMO crops. Native Sun is one of the Top 12 Right-to-Know Grocers in the country as selected by the Organic Consumer’s Association.
As part of the “Diligent Dozen,” Native Sun is recognized for its leadership in the natural food industry and work as an advocate for GMO labeling. The store’s research team helps manufacturers and local producers meet Native Sun’s product standards as they transition to non-GMO ingredients.
